Beautiful and original handbag made of felt. Master Class
I very much like to use non-standard materials for creativity, and this time I decided to choose a fairly budgetary material - a felt mat for a sauna. He attracted me by his low price and pleasant color, and natural (composition: 80% wool, the rest - lavsan). You can find such a rug among the products for baths and saunas.
So let's get started!
We will need:
- organza (as transparent as possible);
- water soluble or tear-off non-woven;
- bag sealer;
- lining fabric;
- fishing line, diameter 2 mm;
- metal accessories;
- paint for the cut;
- pattern for embroidery;
- sewing machine;
- water soluble marker;
- knife, scissors.
The owl's drawing was taken from adult colorings that are freely available on the Internet.
Stage 1. Preparation.Since I was not sure of the quality of the raw material, I decided to wash it at a high temperature (60 degrees).Felt has shrunk and now no washing of the bag is not terrible for us.
I got involved in work and forgot to show the stages of creating a picture. Therefore, I show the process on the example of another figure. On the water-soluble or tear-off non-woven we translate the contours of the picture with a marker:
The size of the future bag depends on the size of the pattern. In my case - a little more than A4. First, we make a rough cut of the parts of the bag, adding 4 cm on all sides to the desired size. This is done so that you can then cut out the correct-sized part, since the stitch significantly compresses the original dimensions.
Putting together a “sandwich”: felt + organza + flizelin with a pattern and scribbling along the contour in free play:
Depending on what kind of non-woven fabric you used, either tear it off or wash it off with water. We postpone our billet to dry.
Stage 2. Stitch and cut bags.The back wall of the bag is assembled from two layers: felt and organza. We make a stitch on the free run, I chose “stippling” (brains). Since this process is not fast, the billet for the front part of the handbag has time to dry and we fill the contours of the pattern with colored threads, and the background is quilted on the free run with the same tone:
From the blanks we cut out the details of the bags with tucks to create volume at the bottom. The darts are built from the bisector of the lower corner with a depth of 3 cm and a width of 2.5 cm.
For the same details, cut the details of the lining:
Stage 3. We proceed to the manufacture of pockets on the back wall of the bag.To do this, we cut out from the lining fabric a burlap pocket equal to two lengths of the bag. We fold them face up to each other, mark up the entrance to the pocket and make the line in small steps around the perimeter of a 18x2 cm rectangle.
Now we need to cut the hole in the pocket. On the long sides we leave a margin of 0.5 cm, on the short sides - 0.2 cm. In the corners as close as possible to the line we make the dissection.
Turn the lining on the wrong side through the hole. Laying it in the manner shown in the following photos:
For convenience, I use a large number of pins to fasten the lining. On the front side of the frame we spend in the edge:
Prepare a leather item to enter the pocket:
I decided to make a hole under the zipper just by cutting the skin and making dissections in the corners:
We impose a zipper on the processed frame of the entrance to the pocket and sew around the perimeter:
On top we glue the leather part (we apply glue dotted in order to “baste”).First we make the stitching of the leather part along the outer contour, then along the bottom edge of the zipper. Thread out on the wrong side, we tie knots and we melt.
We fold the lining detail in half, pin up to the top of the bag and make a line along the top edge of the zipper.
Stage 4. EdgingWe sew darts and decorate the bottom of the bag with the help of an iron and a hose block:
Getting to the manufacture of Kant. For this we need a long strip of leather 3 cm wide and a thick fishing line with a diameter of 2 mm.
If you do not have sufficient length of the strip, it can be increased. To do this, we thin out two tips with a clerical knife, make an oblique cut and glue in thin pieces in an overlap:
We sew a leather strip to the front side of one of the parts of the bag, starting not from the very top of the bag, but retreating 3 cm.
We build the second line with a one-sided foot, inserting a fishing line to create a three-dimensional edging. Notice how the "tail" is displayed:
Stage 5. We start making loops for attaching the strap.To do this, take two strips of skin with a width equal to the size of a half ring, the same strip of compactor and glue them together with me.We make a line at a distance of 2 mm from the edge. The cut is treated with paint to cut the skin.
We insert semirings and establish holnitens:
We sew blanks to one of the parts of the bag. We try to do it symmetrically.
We connect the bag details with each other until we hurry to turn it.
6 Step. Let's get on with the lining.First we'll prepare our pockets. The details for this are cut double, fold in half with the front sides inward, sew along the side cuts, turn out and iron.
The upper cut of the pocket, which will serve as an entrance, is treated with a leather edging.
Sew pockets to lining details and sew lining only on the sides.
Stage 7. Lightning.Fasten the front ends of the zipper with a stitch as shown in the photo:
Cut out the seam allowances near the upper cut to avoid excessive thickness:
We sew a zipper to the top of the bag (I apologize for the quality, it was difficult to take a picture).
Stage 8. We connect the lining with the bag, and necessarily on a lining we do a line in order that it did not get under the lightning slider.
We turn out the bag, with the help of the iron and the pads form the sides and bottom.
Through a hole in the lining sew tuck:
Fill the lining inside the bag and thoroughly pripirivaem edge of the iron.
At this stage it is possible and necessary to correct the tail of the zipper under the lining:
It remains to sew a hole in the lining and the bag itself is ready:
Stage 9. We make a strap.For this we need a very long strip of skin. Its width depends on the size of your carbine (I have 3 cm). For the strap, I procured a strip of leather 5 cm wide and 2.5 m long (since nowhere to take such a length of skin flap anywhere, we increase it in the same way that I described when making the edge). Glue the skin with a seal for bags. Exactly in the middle of this strip we glue the second layer of skin and a length of about 8 cm is made with a width equal to the size of the belt buckle. Do not forget to process the slices with paint.
We glue the straps together, cut off the excess, detach it at a distance of 2 mm from the edge. Sections are treated with paint. We install carbines and fasten to the bag.
We have worked on the glory.
