Andrei Zvyagintsev's film "Nelyubov" nominated for an Oscar

Drama Andrei Zvyagintsev "Dislike", quite possibly, will compete for the Oscar. The Russian Oscar Committee has put forward a film for the main film award of the year. They also considered the “Arrhythmia” of Boris Khlebnikov, “How Vitka Garlic carried Lech Shtyr to the home for the disabled” by Alexander Hunt and the scandalous “Matilda” by Alexei Uchitel.

The drama “Dislike”, which is compared to “Scenes from the married life” by Ingmar Bergman and “The Hidden” by Michael Haneke, tells the story of a family family who is going through a difficult divorce. The new work of Andrey Zvyagintsev was well received by critics and marked by the jury of the 70th Cannes Film Festival.

The works of director Andrey Zvyagintsev are being nominated for an Oscar not for the first time (in 2015, we supported Leviathan, which, unfortunately, did not receive statuettes, but was presented in the list of nominees as the first Russian film in the last ten years). In general, Russian directors received the prestigious award only three times: in 1968 Sergey Bondarchuk (“War and Peace”) managed to do this,in 1981 to Vladimir Menshov (“Moscow does not believe in tears”) and in 1994 to Nikita Mikhalkov (“Burnt by the Sun”). The Oscars will take place on March 4, 2018.
